The 3D models
The organs in the anatomy explorer are adapted from two open datasets. They are teaching models, not surgical references.
- Human Reference Atlas / HuBMAP
Kidneys v1.2, ureters v1.1 and renal vessels v1.2: Kristen Browne and Heidi Schlehlein, 2022, derived from the National Library of Medicine Visible Human. Kidney reviewers: Jeffrey Spraggins and Sanjay Jain. Parts renamed, assembly normalized and compressed, materials adapted. Body placement uses approximate atlas registration.

Both sets were modified: simplified, recoloured, recentred and compressed for the browser.
The vessels on the heart and the skin cross-section were modelled by StudSnap.
