Who we are

StudSnap SAS ("StudSnap", "we", "us") is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. We are based in Paris, France, and we provide an AI study tutor that helps secondary-school students work through their homework one step at a time.

This policy explains what we collect, why, how long we keep it, and the rights you have under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

02

Information we collect

We try to collect as little as we can. In practice that means:

  • Account details: your name, email address and education level, so we can sign you in and pitch explanations correctly.
  • Worksheets you upload: the photos, scans and files of the exercises you want help with, plus the text we extract from them.
  • Study activity: your tutoring sessions, the steps you completed and your saved threads, so you can resume where you left off.
  • Technical data: device type, browser and basic logs, used to keep the service reliable and secure.
03

How we use your data

We use your data to run the tutor, save your study history, improve extraction accuracy, prevent abuse and respond to support requests. The legal bases are performance of our contract with you, our legitimate interest in a safe and reliable service, and, where required, your consent.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
04

Your uploads & the AI tutor

When you upload an exercise, its content is sent to our AI providers to extract the text and generate step-by-step guidance. Providers process this on our behalf under contract and are not permitted to use your content to train their own models.

Your worksheets are private to your account. We only access individual uploads when you ask us to (for example, a support request) or where the law requires it.

05

Sharing & processors

We share data only with service providers who help us operate StudSnap: cloud hosting, AI inference, error monitoring and payment processing. Each is bound by a data-processing agreement and may only act on our instructions.

Where a provider is outside the European Economic Area, transfers are covered by Standard Contractual Clauses or an equivalent safeguard.

06

How long we keep it

We keep your account and study history for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your worksheets and tutoring threads are removed within 30 days, except where we must retain limited billing records to meet legal obligations.

07

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can request access to your data, correction, deletion, a portable copy, or restriction of processing, and you can object to processing based on our legitimate interest.

Exercise any of these from Account → Delete account, or by writing to us. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the CNIL, the French data-protection authority.

08

Students & younger users

StudSnap is built for secondary-school students. If you are under 15, French law asks that a parent or guardian consents to your use of the service. We never knowingly use a student's data for advertising or sell it to anyone.

09

Security

Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, access is limited to staff who need it, and we review our practices regularly. No system is perfectly secure, but we work hard to protect your work and will notify you and the CNIL if a breach ever affects your data.

10

Changes & contact

We may update this policy as the product evolves. If a change is significant we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect.
